Slow down and reconnect through the art of SAORI weaving—a joyful, pressure-free day filled with creativity, self-expression, and meaningful connection. Enjoy delicious food, good company, and the serene atmosphere of Trigonos while exploring your artistic side.

Join Rosie Green, an experienced textile artist and facilitator, for a fun, creative workshop that will leave you feeling inspired and rejuvenated.

SAORI weaving is a free-flowing, uninhibited practice that celebrates the unique sensibilities we all possess and the inherent power to create. Rooted in the belief that we are all born with the ability to express our authentic selves, SAORI weaving fosters deep connection—with both our creative spirit and with others. By embracing our individuality while honoring our shared humanity, this practice nurtures self-awareness, compassion, and a sense of global connection.

SAORI weaving is not just a craft—it's a philosophy of personal creativity and self-development practiced worldwide. For some, it serves as a form of meditation, for others, it’s a way to relax and recharge. And for many, it's simply a joyful way to create beautiful woven cloth!

At the heart of SAORI, there are no rigid plans or predetermined designs. The process is free-flowing, where the act of weaving itself becomes an expression of individuality. The finished cloth is always a delightful surprise. The unique design of the looms and materials used result in fabric that is ideal for making simple garments that celebrate the beauty of the cloth itself, with little or no cutting. The drape and adjustments are intentionally left to showcase the maker's individuality, creating a garment that is entirely their own.

SAORI weaving follows five guiding principles, which will be embraced during the retreat:

  • Consider the differences between a machine and a human being

  • Be bold and adventurous

  • Look out through eyes that shine

  • Inspire one another and the community

  • We are born with creativity and intuition

By embracing these principles, we honor the philosophy that creativity and intuition are inherent in us all.

What to Expect:

  • From the Heart
Slip away and let inspiration guide you to ‘weave from your heart’. There’s no pressure or expectation, yet you’ll be surprised and amazed by what you create throughout the day.

  • Deepen Your Connection with Your Natural Self
Enhance your self-understanding and connect deeply through the art of SAORI weaving, tapping into your innate creativity.

This Workshop will Help You:

With a ‘no rules, no mistakes’ philosophy, SAORI weaving will help you relax and find peace, allowing your mind to settle and unwind.

  • Timeout for Yourself
Enjoy the opportunity to step away from the busyness of daily life and dedicate time to yourself, focusing on creative expression and relaxation.

Who is this Workshop For?

This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to switch off, re-focus, or try something new. It's ideal for those who want to spend time in the stunning surroundings of Eryri National Park, connecting with like-minded people while exploring creativity and relaxation.

One of the best experiences I have booked. Rosie is an amazing woman. She completely makes you feel at ease and instills confidence in your ability to weave. And she is totally correct! I made a beautiful table runner. However, the whole experience is more than creating a beautiful piece of weaving. Words do not accurately describe this phenomenal experience. Make this a destination on your journey. Simply Amazing!

About the Facilitator

Rosie Green, Saori Making, Trigonos Event

Rosie Green’s journey into hand weaving began when she took a textiles course, sparking a deep passion for the craft. In 1982, she relocated to North Wales, where she began demonstrating at the Bodeilio Weaving Centre on Anglesey. In 2014, Rosie opened SAORIMôr, becoming the first registered SAORI free-weaving studio in Wales.

As an Artist Facilitator, Rosie’s practice has evolved over the years, enriching her understanding of the creative process and its significant role in our lives. Through SAORI, she guides others to explore their creativity and find their own path in life.

I am a facilitator and instructor in SAORI weaving but I also have a long experience in traditional weaving. This helps me understand the various approaches people might have and helps me support each individual and their particular needs. The SAORI looms are easy to use and allow for the use of accessories to enable those who have any form of disability, whether significant or less so, to weave with equal value to anyone else. There is no judgement or comparison, we are all equal as human beings.
— Rosie Green

An Insight to the Day…

The day will begin with introductions to ensure everyone feels comfortable and understands what to expect. After that, each person will work at their own pace, weaving with colours and textures of their choosing, with support and encouragement from Rosie. You can choose to work quietly or engage in conversation and ask as many questions as you like. At the end of the day, you will cut your work from the loom and have the chance to share your experiences. This will be a time to discuss your cloth, reflect on how you feel, or learn how to finish your work.

Daily Schedule:

09:30 am – Arrival/Welcome
10:00 am – Workshop
11:00 am – Mid-Morning Snack
11:30 am – Workshop
01:00 pm – Lunch
02:00 pm – Workshop
04:00 pm – Afternoon Tea Together
04:30 pm – Depart

It was an amazing experience. I have managed to make a piece of colourful fabric. I still cannot believe that I have made it! The two hours were more relaxing than any yoga session. Japanese weaving is like a creative therapy!
