Release & Reflect: an Autumn Retreat in the Heart of north Wales

  • Trigonos Plas Baladeulyn, Nantlle Caernarfon Wales (map)

Autumn is about change and transition. As leaves change colour, the air gets cooler and days get shorter, it is a reminder of the transient, cyclical nature of life. That change is constant and that with every ending, there is a chance for a new beginning.

Just like the leaves fall from the trees, we too must learn to release what no longer serves us, whether that’s clutter in our house, an attachment to summer, negative beliefs or unhelpful thought patterns. By letting go we create the space for new growth and experiences.

Carve out some time in your busy lives to shed the old and welcome the new, just like the trees prepare for winter's rest before spring's vibrant return. Come to Trigonos in Eryri (Snowdonia) national park for a held space filled with yoga, meditation, soulful collage and other creative practices, walking in nature and nourishing food.

Retreat Highlights:

•         Daily yoga, meditation and pranayama (breath work): yoga to help you feel grounded and stable; meditation and breath exercises bring gentle presence.

•         Creative practices: such as journalling, Soul Collage, drawing from nature, and poetry writing to surface emotions and a build a deeper awareness of yourself.

Available for those who choose:

•         wild swimming

•         work in the biodynamic farm

•         guided walks in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park

In the evenings, rest and relax on a sofa with a book by the fire or indulge in an early night with the promise of deep sleep in an area with Dark Sky status.

Trigonos is renowned for its delicious vegetarian and vegan food, much of which comes from its bio dynamic farm.

The benefits of our retreat:

·       Rest and renewal: Give yourself the space to slow down, step back from daily pressures and reset both mind and energy.

·       Inner awareness and reflection: Through journaling and quiet contemplation, explore what’s unfolding within you and deepen your sense of self-understanding.

·       Presence and stillness: Learn to soften mental noise, cultivate calm and settle into the rhythm of being rather than constantly doing.

·       Creative exploration: Express what can’t always be spoken – using imagery, writing, sound, or artistic play to touch your inner landscape.

·       Connection and community: Share meaningful conversation with like-minded others where listening, respect and authenticity are core.

·       Nature immersion: Re-engage your senses outdoors, noticing the subtleties of nature and letting the environment restore your balance and clarity.

In stepping away from the noise you’ll gain:

  • A renewed sense of peace

  • Tools for self-reflection and presence

  • Strengthened creative confidence

  • New insights and personal clarity

  • Genuine connection with others

  • A deeper bond with the natural world

About the Facilitators

Kanwal Ahluwalia / Yogabliss

Kanwal’s teaching style is characterised by warmth, gentleness and intuition. Her classes are engaging and inclusive, with an emphasis on deep stretches, slow flows and mindful breathing.

She encourages students to go beyond the physical postures and delve into the transformative philosophy that underlies yoga.

Kanwal was drawn to yoga in her 20s as a way of keeping a centre of gravity whilst working on women's rights and social justice. She trained with Yogahaven in 2010 (hot, vinyasa) and more recently with Norman Blair (yin). Kanwal has had a regular meditation practice since 2017. She currently teaches hatha and yin yoga in South London.

Rachel Houghton

Rachel is an accredited coach and multidisciplinary facilitator who guides immersive, process-centred practices that help people explore what lies beneath and respond to the call of their soul. Blending creative and writing practices, she creates reflective spaces for participants to experiment with new forms of expression and perception.

She spent nine years working with psychotherapist and artist Suzette Clough, founder of Visual Medicine™, before leading her own groups for six years and facilitating women’s circles in her community. Alongside her creative work, Rachel works in international development in leadership and advisory roles, where she subtly integrates more soulful and collaborative practices.

Rachel is committed to building communities grounded in authenticity, experimentation and mutual support, believing that creative practice is both a doorway into self-understanding and a catalyst for shared transformation

How the retreat unfolds…

Mornings open quietly with yoga, followed by a shared breakfast. If the weather allows, we’ll wander into the landscape for a gentle walk—or you may simply slip into the water, linger with a book, or savour unstructured time.

After lunch, an optional creative offering awaits, such as soulful collage or the simplicity of haiku.

Tea and cake appear in the afternoon, followed by the possibility of yin yoga before dinner.

As evening settles, we gather in circle for readings, meditation, and reflective conversation.

‘Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.’ Lao Tzu
