Snowdonia National Park Trigonos is situated in Dyffryn Nantlle (the Nantlle Valley) in the Snowdonia National Park, halfway between the coast and Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.

Mountains and Walks An area of outstanding natural beauty, the Nantlle valley offers a range of walks for all levels of experience. From challenging mountain climbs to gentle woodland or lakeside walks, the peace and beauty of the area is unsurpassed. Download our booklet of Walks from Trigonos.(10mb)

Coast The closest beach to Trigonos is at Dinas Dinlle, just 8 miles away and there are countless other beaches of great beauty along the stunning Llyn peninsula.

Cycleways Many of our visitors bring their own bikes to explore the area, or bikes can be hired locally at Beddgelert Bikes for those interested in mountain biking or exploring forest trails. There is also a very popular cycle path to Caernarfon.

Narrow Gauge Railways North Wales is the place for railway enthusiasts with the newly extended Welsh Highland Railway route which includes Caernarfon, Beddgelert and (summer 2011) Porthmadog. There is also the Ffestiniog Railway which runs from Porthmadog to the slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Castles Nearby Caernarfon Castle (10 miles way) is arguably the most impressive of Edward I's fortified castles. Further examples of which can all be found within an hour's drive at Conwy, Beaumaris and Harlech. The only Welsh built castle in the area is in Cricieth, an attractive seaside town.

History The locality is rich in historical sites from the Segontium Roman site and museum in Caernarfon to the iron age hill forts in Dinas Dinlle and Tre'r Ceiri and standing stones in Penmaenmawr.

Myths Snowdonia is the home of Arthurian legend and the Nantlle valley is mentioned in the Mabinogi, recognised as one of the oldest collections of British Celtic myths.

Weather

We have long been interested in local weather patterns and have now installed a Davies Vantage Pro2 automatic weather station in the orchard. It records temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind direction and speed and air pressure.

The data appears on an indoor display console that also logs onto a PC, allowing the buildup of an ongoing record of local weather patterns. We also upload the data onto the internet.

For today's weather and forecast log onto:http://weather.trigonos.org/index.php

Data is also submitted to the Met Office where it can be viewed on their newly established Weather Observations Website WOW http://wow.metoffice.gov.uk
